FA Cup 4th Round: Wanderers 2 Swansea 1

I’m not usually short of opinions on matters concerning Bolton Wanderers but I have got to admit that I’m not sure what to make of this game, which I found perplexing and full of contradictions. We dominated the match for long periods and created countless chances yet we only managed to score from a free kick and a goalkeeping error.

Despite Swansea defending for virtually the whole of the first half they scored a simple goal before half time whilst we scored our second goal during the one spell in the game when Swansea were on top. Darren Pratley scored our opening goal, which was almost the only thing he contributed to the victory against his former club. Kevin Davies, who has received a fair amount of criticism this season, received a hero’s welcome from the crowd when he was introduced as a substitute.

Mark Davies, who excelled against Liverpool in the attacking midfield role, played deeper with Pratley playing in front of him and Reo-Coker. Bizarrely, when Muamba came on in place of Pratley, he also played the forward role. Should we regard this game as a confidence building extension of the chain of improved results since the turn of the year or was it a lucky victory that undermines the sprouting shoots of hope?

Bolton Wanderers: Transfer Deadline Day – Le Toux Deal Off

January transfer window deadline day is upon us!

At the time of writing this has been a tremendously quiet window, the Sky Sports totaliser stands at a relatively meagre £27,900,00 and over a third of that is generated by sale of Gary Cahill and purchase of Tim Ream.

As we know from recent press conferences, Owen Coyle has stated that he is looking to bring in another 2 players, and some of the possible moves are already known to us.

However, I have been informed that the Sebastien Le Toux bid is dead in the water and has been consigned to the dustbin of transfer rumour history. It doesn’t appear that the French-American national did enough on trial to warrant an approach and the manager prefers to explore other options to bolster the attack.

Can Ream Make An Immediate Impact After Lack Of Football?

Now that Tim Ream has been successful in his work permit application appeal, we are simply left waiting for the official confirmation that the young American has been signed.

The Bolton News has it that Ream has actually returned to America in order to make arrangements and finalise the practicalities of his move to England, and as a result will not feature in Bolton’s FA Cup tie with Swansea at the weekend.

One particular concern that has gone slightly under the radar and one that sticks out when also considering the potential transfer of Sebastian Le Toux from Philadelphia Union, is the lack of recent game time.

What To Do With A Super But Old Kevin Davies?

If you’re reading this then you already know that supposedly a host of clubs, which include West Brom, Sunderland, Wolves, Celtic and Rangers – are interested in relieving us of Bolton stalwart and club captain, Kevin Davies.

It has come as no surprise, due to his advancing years, that the bestial Yorkshire man and scourge of the centre half has finally lost his regular starting position for the Whites. Some may have suspected it to come sooner given Coyle’s reputation for  the passing game, but with typical indomitable spirit, Super Kev battled on regardless as the squad slowly underwent an overhaul and refit around him.

Sentimentality is misplaced in the cut and thrust of modern football and it appears that both parties are willing to move on from their longstanding relationship, but only if the deal is right.

          Giovani Dos Santos

Rather than report what’s going on about this transfer – although we have to admit we haven’t got a clue and that we’ve taken our eyes off this one, we were wondering whether anyone knew what was happening with the ‘bid’?

We could’ve tweeted this out and received a ton of replies, but we thought we’d like to see if you’d like to share your thoughts, or facts about the transfer Bolton are trying to push through on the site.

So – anyone? Do you know what’s going on with the Dos Santos transfer? Is it a Deal Or No Deal? Are Tottenham playing silly buggers? Is Dos Santos playing hard to get, or is he holding out for a move to – where was it again, Villareal?

Wanderers Waiting To Seal Hoilett Deal?

No – we’re not turning into a gossip site where we start throwing names about in the hope that someone will give us a mention blah blah and a bigger blah.

However, we can’t confirm whether this is true or not, but overnight reports have suggested Bolton are currently waiting to hear from Blackburn Rovers on a bid placed to bring Junior Hoilett to the club. This could well and truly turn out to be a sack of lies, however bear in mind the Canadian will be a free agent in the Summer.

If Blackburn have any wits about them, then they would be better off sealing the deal – with us of course, and cut their losses as let’s be honest – they ARE going down! (Cue abusive comments from Bolton fans).
