Voice Of Bolton Editor Application Form

If you have any questions about the role, please see the question list below.

How old do I need to be to become an editor with Voice Of Bolton?

You would be required to be atleast 16 years of age. There is a restriction on this as we will be paying you for any articles that are published by us. For more details on payment, please see the relevant section below.

What kind of work am I expected to do?

We're not expecting you to throw out articles left, right and center, we'd just like you to write an article or three each week, based on topics around Bolton Wanderers, whether its about the past or present. If there are times where you're not able to put anything together, don't worry, we won't set Lofty the Lion on you!

We don't set any deadlines for you, you manage your own article time yourself.

Am I restricted to the kind of stuff I write?

Well, yes and no. Yes, because we have a good relationship with Bolton Wanderers Football Club, and we'd like to keep it that way. However, we're not stopping you from voicing your opinions, but please do it in a proactive way, without any strong language or adult related content. Please remember, this website is read by visitors of all ages!

We are an independent outfit - so our frustrations are yours and if you want to let off some steam here - so be it - as long as it's not using abusive language then it's fine by us.

How much will I get paid?

This is all dependent on how much sponsorship we have acquired this season. If we have not been able to secure any sponsorship, then we will not be able to pay you anything. If we have, then we will pay you a fair rate for submitting articles. We will be completely honest with you on how things are progressing here behind the scenes. We believe in building a fair and honest relationship with everyone we work with - and we also believe you should be paid for the time you spend to make our site better!

What type of writing skills do I need?

You don't need any skills of any kind, you just need a passion for football.

Is this opportunity open to anyone?

Yes, whether you're male, female, professional journalist, or some bloke who sits in a back alley with wifi access, you're welcome to apply. You don't even need to be a Bolton Wanderers Fan, if you've got something to say - we'd like to hear it!

I want to be an editor for Voice Of Bolton! What do I do next?

Simply fill out this form and we'll do the rest. We'll let you know within 7 working days, if you've been successful with your request to become an editor.

Wanderers 2 Birmigham City 1 - The Keighley Report

It’s been a funny week. We should have made the first trip in our new motorhome. However, after lots of preparation, Marion, wasn’t well so we had to postpone it. Then came the election, the preamble for which seemed to have gone on for ever, and the outcome of which still hasn’t been resolved.

As one set of Tories debated power sharing with another set of Tories, while a third set of Tories waited in the wings, and the world’s stock markets hovered on the brink of collapse, it was a relief to go to a football match that, in football terms, was pretty inconsequential. The result mattered financially, of course, but the hoards that came to support Birmingham were in party mood with many of them in fancy dress and most of them the worse for drink. Perhaps surprisingly, the game was fiercely contested and the result was always in the ba...
